What you need to know:

  • The bank becomes the fourth company to join MPL in the initiative.
  • Tony Glencross, the MPL managing director, said impact of the annual farm clinics, which started in 2013, was phenomenal to the media outlets.

Kampala. Post Bank Uganda Limited will initiate a range of financial tips and solutions that suite the agricultural needs of farmers, how to improve the saving culture and grow the levels of income of farmers in Uganda.
Post Bank’s corporate communications manager Jackie Tahakanizibwa said yesterday while expressing Post Bank’s interest in supporting Monitor Publications Ltd (MPL) October 1 Seeds of Gold Farm Clinic.
She said they were participating in the farm clinic to get close to the farmers but most importantly advise them on financial solutions that suite their farming needs in a sustainable and affordable manner.

“We know that the clinic will provide advice, knowledge and ideas regarding dairy farming, nutrition, different kinds of grass for animals and how to improve milk production, as well as the market trends. As a bank, we shall be offering free financial tips,” Ms Tahakanizibwa on Thursday.
“We finance agricultural projects and this engagement will benefit both our customers and prospective clients,” she added.
The bank becomes the fourth company to join MPL in the initiative after MTK Uganda Ltd (formerly Cooper Uganda Ltd), which specialises in animal health, human health, public health and crop protection, Heifer international, a charity organisation working to end hunger and poverty around the world by providing livestock and training to struggling communities and Agricultural Business Initiative Trust (aBi Trust), which have been gold sponsors of the annual event.

Mr Tony Glencross, the MPL managing director, said impact of the annual farm clinics, which started in 2013, was phenomenal to the media outlets because it provided fertile ground for NTV, KFM, Dembe FM and Daily Monitor to take communication to the farmer from the written word to its practical use.
Ms Sarah Nalule, the MPL marketing manager, said last year’s Farm Clinic attracted more than 1,000 participants and that the number has been growing from 2013 when they held the first event.
Participants will tour the farm and be exposed to expert knowledge on dairy farming and how to produce better breeds for the market.
