Rubirizi primary school teacher found dead in his rented room

A primary school teacher from Rubirizi District was on Monday afternoon found dead in his single rented room, authorities said.
According to police, 43-year-old Kashenyi Primary School teacher Julius Mugasho was found dead under unclear circumstances.
"The body of the deceased was found lying on a mattress with no shirt and had no external body injuries. We have dispatched a team of police detectives to ascertain what could be the course of this death," greater Bushenyi police spokesperson Marcial Tumusiime said of the incident in Kashenyi Parish, Katuguru Sub County in Rubirizi District
Police noted that the incident happened in Kalamba Village in Kishenyi Parish which is in Katuguru Sub County.
"It's alleged that on August 13, 2023 at around 10:00am, the deceased, together with his fellow teachers, attended a function of an American guest who had visited the school. The function ended at around 5pm," Tumusiime observed.
Kashenyi Primary School’s 53-year-old headmistress Irene Niwagaba revealed that the deceased was later seen seated at his door at around 6:00pm before entering his rented room.
"However, Mugasho was not seen coming out from his house for some time and this prompted other teachers to proceed to his room to check on him. The door was not locked and he was found dead upon checking inside," she noted.
She added that: "It was so unfortunate but I think the hospital and the police will come out with a proper report so that we know what could have been the course of his death."
Tumusiime told journalists that police was notified and a team of its officers visited the scene and the body was found with no physical injuries and the taken to Rugazi health center IV for postmortem.
