Tamale Mirundi appointed advisor to Buruuli King

Mr Tamale Mirundi

President’s Press Secretary, Joseph Tamale Mirundi, has been appointed as an advisor to the cabinet of Isaabaruuli Mwogezi Butamanya, the Baruuli cultural leader.

The appointment of Mr Tamale was read out yesterday by Isaabaruuli Principal Private Press Secretary, Mr Patrick Mucwa.

Mr Tamale when contacted by Daily Monitor, said he was ready to serve Isaabaruuli.

Buruli chiefdom based in Nakasongola District, like Banyala chiefdom in Kayunga District, isn’t recognised by Buganda Kingdom and they have been on collusion course which has sometimes led to deadly riots.

Mr Tamale is a known critic of the Buganda Kingdom and its projects.

Isaabaruli Mwogezi also sacked the chiefdom premier, Erukamu Kwebeya, deputy premier, Lutaya Gaweera, and seven ministers.

The Isaabaruuli fired his cabinet in January this year and appointed an interim committee to run the chiefdom affairs until yesterday when he announced the new cabinet.

“The Buruuli Constitution gives the Isaabaruuli powers to dissolve his cabinet and appoints new ministers as he wishes and this time he has appointed 23 senior Ministers and 20 junior ministers,” Mr Mucwa said at his office in Nakasongola District.

Among those appointed to cabinet positions are Mr Silvesteri Banumba, who is now the new premier, Mr Denis Muyomba, 1st deputy premier, Mr Muhammad Bagonza as the speaker of clan’s council.
