It is that time of the year again when people flood the city to prepare for the festive season.
Despite the scorching sun, hundreds of shoppers and travellers were yesterday pictured rushing to buy those precious items or catch the next bus upcountry before Christmas.

The city streets of Ben Kiwanuka, Luwum and William, Kikuubo Lane, Namirembe Road, Nakivubo Road, and Mukwano Arcade were a beehive of activity.

Verandas and entrances to the shopping arcades were littered with merchandise ranging from Christmas decors, clothes, kitchen utensils to confectionaries.

Majority of the bus companies plying upcountry routes have increased transport fares.

For instance, Global Coaches increased fares to Mbarara District from Shs15,000 to Shs30,000. A booking clerk at Kalita Bus said they are charging between Shs15,000 and Shs40,000 for different stopovers.
