Traffic officer knocked dead by retired Foreign Affairs official

Police in Kibuku District have arrested a retired Foreign Affairs official, Mr David Etuket for allegedly knocking dead a traffic officer on duty.
The accident happened at Tirinyi village along Mbale-Tirinyi highway.

Mr Sowali Kamulya, the Bukedi Region Police Spokesperson and acting Kibuku District Police Commander identified the deceased as PC Edward Isiko, 45.

"PC Isiko Edward was knocked by speeding vehicle driven by Ambassador David Etuket as he returned to Tirinyi Police station in Kibuku District from the field," said Mr Kamulya.

He said the officer was knocked on Wednesday night by Mr Etuket , the former Head of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, who was driving a car registration number UAN 046B.
"We have arrested the Ambassador on suspicion of killing a traffic officer as investigation go on. The deceased was riding a police motorcycle Reg number UP 5676 travelling from Mbale side and the vehicle was also coming from the same direction," he said.

He says the constable's body is lying at Mbale municipal council mortuary awaiting postmortem this morning before it is handed over to his relatives for burial in Namutumba District.
