Two people have been arrested to help police with investigations into the murder of Irene Naggita, the young sister to Gen Kasirye Gwanga.

Police on Thursday morning recovered the body of Naggita, 60, from a pit-latrine at her home at Kitalegerwa Village, Nalutuntu Sub County, Kassanda District two weeks after she went missing.
Wamala region police spokesperson, Mr Nobert Ochom told this reporter on Friday that two people had been arrested and are currently detained at Kassanda Central Police Station on murder charges as investigations continue.

“I cannot reveal their names because it may jeopardise our investigations since we’re still hunting for more suspects,” he said.

Gen Gwanga, who rushed to the scene, tasked police to investigate the case and apprehend his sister’s killers

Naggita’s son, Mr Samuel Kikambi said his mother was living on a five-acre piece of land with her two grandchildren but by the time of her death, the children were at his home for holidays.
''I am not aware of any wrangles she had with anyone. However, on different occasions, thieves have broken into her home to steal goats or chicken. I’m still wondering why she was killed in such a manner,'' Mr Kikambi told this reporter.

She was buried at her home on Thursday evening.
“We could not hold onto the body longer because it had started decomposing,' 'Mr Kikambi added.
Gen Gwanga on Thursday tasked police to investigate the case and apprehend his sister’s killers.
“She didn’t have a grudge with anybody and we are surprised that thugs took her life in such a brutal manner. We want the police to thoroughly investigate and tell us what the intention of the killers was," Gen Gwanga said.

Ms Elizabeth Kasirye, the elder sister to the deceased described her as a friendly and hardworking person.
"It was shocking to receive the sad news that my young sister was killed and her body dumped in a pit-latrine. It is terrible,” Ms Kasirye said.
