Two drown after boat capsizes in Lake Bisina

Two people drowned after a boat they were traveling in capsized in Lake Bisina on Saturday.
Local authorities identified the deceased as Michael Odelo, 30, the boat captain and his niece Esther Nabirye alias Itabu, 18, all residents of Kelim 1 Village in Kapujan Sub County, Katakwi District.
John Robert Oluka, the vice LCIII chairperson Kapujan Sub County told URN on Sunday that the duo were together with other three people who were rescued returning from Kokorio parish where they had gone to collect firewood.
Brian Namanya, the police officer in-charge Kapujan Police Station confirmed that the incident that happened on Saturday evening was caused by heavy wind.

Okiror said Lake Bisina claims lives of people including fishermen annually although the number of deaths has reduced since a ferry was introduced to ease the transport.
By press time, Michael Odongo, the East Kyoga region police spokesperson when asked about the matter said that he had no details regarding the incident.
