Uganda’s military envoy to Kenya dies

The late Brig Kalyebara

Brig. Kalyebara joined the army in 1979. He hails from Harugongo, Kichwamba Sub County in Kabarole District.

Brigadier Clovis Kalyebara, Uganda’s Military Attaché in Kenya, has died.

Brig. Kalyebara, 57, died Tuesday night at Nairobi Hospital. His close friend, Lt. Col. Steven Basaliza said Brig. Kalyebara was hospitalised recently.  

Before being deployed in Kenya by President Yoweri Museveni as a military attaché, three months ago, Brig. Kalyebara was the Commandant of the Military Academy, Kabamba, in Mubende District.

Brig.  Kalyebara once served as military attaché to the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and deputy Commandant of Senior Command and Staff College, Kimaka.

Brig. Kalyebara joined the army in 1979. He hails from Harugongo, Kichwamba Sub County in Kabarole District.

The UPDF and Defence Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Paddy Ankunda confirmed the death of the veteran soldier.

 Brig. Kalyebara’s death comes a month after the demise of Brig. Patrick Kankiriho, who was the commander of the Second Division.
