2021 Martyrs' Day celebration through the lense

Empty rows of seats were sighted unlike the previous years before the pandemic hit the world, seats were always filled with pilgrims from all walks of life.

some of the pilgrims who were turned away from accessing the Shrine, decided to pray from outside. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, only 200 people were invited to attend the celebrations as the rest were advised to observe the day from their homes virtually.

Some drama also ensued as a Catholic nun clashed with a Born-Again street preacher who was preaching outside the Shrine.

NRM Secretary General Justine Kasule Lumumba and the Deputy Speaker of Parliament Anita Among, were part of the guests who attended the celebrations at the Catholic shrine.

Former presidential candidate, Robert Kyagulanyi and his wife Barbra Itungo also attended the. celebrations at the Catholic Shrine.

Katikkiro Charles Pater Mayiga in company of Kalungu West MP Joseph Ssewungu and Mr Alex Kakooza were also part of the guests for today's celebrations.
