What you need to know:

  • In the five rallies he held in Terego District,  Mr Amuriat pledged  to improve maternal health and infrastructure development in the new district that is plagued by bad roads, insufficient electricity connection and poorly equipped health centres.

Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party presidential  candidate  Patrick  Oboi  Amuriat who started his journey yesterday with a mass   at Mother Mary Arivu Catholic Church  in Arua District at around 7am abandoned his vehicle and jumped on a boda boda to dodge police officers who wanted to block him from accessing the city.
Mr Amuriat had earlier on  been in Terego District where he addressed about five rallies before heading to Arua city.

He entered Arua through Lemerijoa road but  found heavy deployment of both the military and police.
The security officers had  blocked the road  to ensure that the FDC presidential candidate  doesn’t enter the city but  rather  to divert him to Arua play ground where he had organized his last  big rally.

However, the defiant candidate walked out of  his vehicle and removed the barricades  before walking to Gaaga Market,  Oli  Division in Arua City as security officers looked on.
Seemingly working on President Museveni’s orders not to tear gas any voters, the security officers were patient and peacefully escorted the crowd of supporters to Arua Primary School Ground.
