KAMPALA. Past beneficiaries and guests at the official opening of the City Tyres-Pirelli Formula One promotion all agreed to one thing; the continued support of Mandela Group towards sports development in the country.

It was perhaps fitting then that the first winner of the third season of the promotion, that will see eight winners watch the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix at the Yas Marina circuit, come from sporting circles.
That honour fell to Bank of Uganda (BoU) Director for supervision Dr. Tumubweine Twinemanzi who in sports circles is more known as Entebbe golf club chairman.
Tumubweine, drawn by Italian Deputy Ambassador to Uganda H.E Lorenza Gambacorta, was the first winner of this year’s draw while Rehema Rwebugisa won a set of new Pirelli tyres.

“They are giving the opportunity to travel to one of the best experiences of a lifetime in Abu Dhabi,” added the Ambassador at the glamorous function that ended with dinner at the City Tyres Kira Road branch. Wenceslaus Kkonde, Kiwa General Hardware and Edrine Lukwago all won prizes that included full car service, 50 litres of fuel and a dinner for two at any Café Javas outlet.
Buganda Deputy Prime Minister Apollo Makubuya, also hailed the Mandela group’s continued involvement with domestic sport that struck a great chord.
“We thank the Mandela group for their high standards,” he stated in his opening remarks.

“I have great admiration for City Tyres and Mandela group because they contribute to our society in many ways. They contribute to the development of our society in many ways. Through sports they support many activities like football, basketball athletics, and chess. Through CSR they give back to the community. Not many money makers have that spirit and they do this year after year,” he added. The current promotion which in now into the third requires one to buy a set of four Pirelli tyres to enter the draw to win various prizes the biggest reward being the Abu Dhabi trip.
