Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Khaled to attend Kampala Blockchain meeting

Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed al Nahyan

His Highness Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed al Nahyan, a member of the Al Nahyan, a  ruling family of Abu Dhabi and the Chairman and co-founder of the Bin Zayed Group, will be among the key speakers during a July Blockchain conference in Kampala.

 Bin Zayed Group is a leading conglomerate established in 1988 with diverse business interests in international markets

The group specialises in construction and energy, trading and industry real estate, technology and financial services in Asian countries and beyond.

The 2nd edition of the Africa Blockchain Conference which will take place at the Kampala Serena Conference Center on July 3rd and July 4  will be hosted by Crypto Savannah, the Blockchain Association of Uganda, Africa 2.0 Foundation and Ubuntu Coin working in collaboration with the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.

The conference will run under the theme “Africa 4.0” with a focus on “Preparing Africa for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”

Crypto Savannah Chief Executive Officer, Mr Kwame Rugunda, confirmed Sheikh Khaled’s attendance on Tuesday.

 “The Arab royal will join several high profile speakers including President Yoweri Museveni and Julius Maada Bio, the President of Sierra Leone at the conference to address key issues in technology and blockchain,” Mr Rugunda said.

The Blockchain Conference and Tech Expo will host 3,000 people, comprising the public and private sector, experts and leaders from global technology companies, entrepreneurs, innovators, youth and government representatives.

Topics to be discussed include: Africa’s readiness for the 4th Industrial Revolution, Fintech, payment systems and digital financial services, the future of work and education, SDGs and technology for impact.

Sheikh Khaled is a prospective owner of England based football club Newcastle United. He is also a relative of Manchester City owner, Sheikh Mansour.

He reportedly concluded talks with Mike Ashley, the current owner of Newcastle United about the proposed acquisition of the football club at a sale price of about £350 million.

  He had previously failed in his bid to buy Liverpool Football Club for £2 billion last year.

Newcastle finished 13th in the Premier League this season under manager Rafael Benitez, whose contract expires on 30 June.
