Create a cosy dining area
There is nothing as refreshing as dining from a well organised area, especially in your home. Even if one has the most expensive things in the dining room and they are disorganised, the dining area will lose its beauty. That’s why the place should be clutter-free at all times.
It is the setting of the dining room that gives the first impression to visitors of what is happening in the other rooms in the house.
Ms Anne Lubowa, a resident of Kajjansi, says that during the construction process of her house, she made sure that all design details were included. She adds that the professional skilled labour she used helped her in designing her house and this has given it a nice look that is appreciated by most people who visit her home.
Her dining room is filled with nice flowers, beautiful lights, a food paint art piece hanged on the wall and a watch that the residents use to time themselves when having breakfast, lunch or supper.
Ms Lubowa adds that the floor rag (centre carpet) she placed on the floor of the dining room protects the floor from the marks that can be made when one pulls or pushes back the chair.
Considerations
Ms Hammidah Nabbossa, a sales representative at Furniture Details, reveals that before one thinks of setting up a dining area, they should consider the size of the room.
“It is important to know the number of people you have, then you buy what will exactly fit the area depending on that number. It is not good to have many things in a small room or few things in a large room,” she explains.
She adds that after one has finished purchasing all that is needed, they should know the right corner to place them. “Let the fridge and sideboard be placed on the side that is opposite the dining window. Then big flower vases can be placed in the corners of the room with a small flower vase placed at the top of the dining table.
Procedure
According to Ms Christine Namanda, an interior designer and sales executive with Nina Interiors, a dining area should be organised according to its size. “A small long dining area will need a dining table, chairs, fridge and a sideboard of a medium size. Also, create space for flowers so as to bring nature into the house,” she says.
Ms Namanda adds that the colours of the dining should be bright because most people tend to bring in items that have dull or dark colours.
