46 magistrates, registrars moved

At least 46 judicial officers have been transferred or deployed to different courts across the country.
Of these, a total of 16 grade one magistrates recently appointed by the Judicial Service Commission have been deployed to different courts around the country. They were sworn-in by the Chief Justice, Bart M. Katureebe, on Friday last week.
According to a transfer circular issued on October 5 by the Chief Registrar, Ms Esta Nambayo, majority of the other 30 judicial officers were either due for transfer or they were moved from less busy stations to stations with more workload, which is in line with judiciary’s transfer policy, according to a statement from the Judiciary.
“The judicial officers who have been in the system shall move to new stations on November 1, whereas the newly deployed officers have to move with immediate effect,” Ms Nambayo said.
According to the Chief Registrar, a judicial officer should be able to work in any part of the country. “Most of the judicial officers are transferred from one place to another based on the workload assessments of one station compared to the other,” she said.
