Africa's problems are ideological, says Museveni
President Museveni has reiterated that the challenges of Africa as a continent are ideological but the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) was able to diagnose the problem and lay out prescriptions of the communities to it especially rejecting sectarianism and instead promoted patriotism.
"We work for prosperity of society through production of wealth with commercial farmers, industrialization, transport, hotels and ICT," Mr Museveni said during the celebration of the NRM Liberation Day in Arua District on Friday.
“We want to transform society from peasant to working class. The middle class is growing. The more factories, hotels we have the bigger the middle and working class. We want peasants to change to commercial farmers," he added.
Eralier, the Bishop of Arua Diocese, Sabino Ocan Odoki, asked government to tarmac more roads in West Nile Sub-region so that goods and services reach the market.
"We appreciate the role of NRM government for tarmacking of roads from Karuma to Oraba. This has enabled people to move faster. We also need addition of provision of electricity so that there is industrialization in the region because we have abundant market in DRC and South Sudan," he said.
He said government needs to ensure there is security provided at the porous borders of South Sudan and DRC so that Ugandans enjoy peace.
