Bushenyi prominent businessman Zabron Rushambuza dies at 93

Lay Canon Zabron Rushambuza, 93, died on Sunday morning

Bushenyi lay Canon Zabron Rushambuza is dead. Rushambuza, 93, died on Sunday morning (around 3 am) at his home in Ntungamo Cell, Nyakabirizi Division in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality, according to his grandson, Mr Julius Turinawe.

He is among the pioneer businessmen in Bushenyi. He owned several buildings.

Rushambuza is said to have loved church and he financed construction of Nyakabirizi Church, located near his home.

“We had a party at home yesterday (Saturday), Obadia [Ntebekeine, one of Rushambuza’s sons] was giving away his daughter. Mzee was around; he was served food. At around 5 pm he was taken to his bed by his helper. We carried on with the function. At around 3 am, the helper went to check on him in his bed and he found him dead,” Mr Turinawe told Daily Monitor.

He added that Rushambuza was diabetic and had developed hearing impairment.

Mr Turinawe said Rushambuza will be buried Tuesday.
