Kabaka monument cost Shs150 million
KAMPALA. Buganda Katikkiro Charles Peter Mayiga has lauded Kampala Capital City Authority executive director Jennifer Musisi for erecting a monument at the historical Kabaka Njagala road junction.
Mr Mayiga said Buganda is on the verge of reclaiming its past glory and that individuals like Ms Musisi, working selflessly to contribute to that effect must be emulated.
He made the remarks at a function to unveil the remodelled Nantawetwa roundabout at Bulange Mengo in Kampala that has been constructed by friends of Buganda Kingdom on Thursday.
Road to become tour site
Mr Mayiga revealed that the kingdom has plans to erect along the Kabaka Njagala road portraits of totems of the 52 clans of Buganda Kingdom and turn the stretch of the road into a tourist attraction.
The funders
Ms Musisi said the construction of the monument cost Shs150.5 million that was contributed by a consortium of six individuals. It was funded by; Ms Musisi, Mr Hamis Kiggundu, Mr Andrew Kasirye, Mr Umar Nasolo Ssekamatte, Mr Gordon Wavamuno, Mr Fred Mukasa Mbidde plus Mr and Mrs Robert Sekidde.
