Kampala Capital City Authority Public health enforcement officers have closed Shoprite food section at Lugogo.

The authority spokesperson Peter Kauju says they had issued several warnings to the management of the facility but with no positive response.

He warns the section will remain closed until the required health standards are adhered to.

"The butchery section has not been well partitioned, its a mix up of beef and all the other sorts of meat," Mr kauju says

"we want them to comply, when the conditions are met, then we will guide them on wa forward," he added.

KCCA has been on a drive to ensure hygiene and sanitation standards in different food sections of supermarkets in the city.

On 12th March, Law enforcement officials from Kampala Capital City Authority closed down the Uchumi Supermarket food section at Garden City over poor hygiene.

KCCA claimed that the Uchumi bakery facility at Garden City was operating a filthy kitchen and unhygienic environment.
