Christine Karitundu, the wife to slain actor Winkle Wakaritundu (aka Rutamirika) has been sentenced to 25 years over the murder of her husband.

She was jailed together with Christiano Bulila, a Congolese gold dealer, who was handed a 50-year sentence.

Kampala High Court Judge Catherine Bamugemereirwe observed that the circumstantial evidence in this case put the two convicted persons at the scene of crime.

“This court will impose a sentence deemed appropriate to ensure that you live with a fresh memory of this horrific act so that it remains a thorn in your flesh for the greater part of your natural lives,” said the Judge while passing sentence.

Prosecution said that the two committed the murder on March 15 2008 with an intention of taking over the deceased’s wealth.

Rutamirika, a celebrated dramatist who’d risen from a little-known village actor to national prominence, was murdered at his doorstep in Nsambya, a Kampala suburb on March 15, 2008. He had two children with his wife.
